CADET REGISTRATION FOR 2012

Attention Cadets.  The Cadet Division for the 2012 Classic is an open tournament.  Some wrestlers signed up at the qualifying tournaments, others did not.  If you have not previously signed up, you may do so at the weigh-ins which are Saturday evening at 6:00-7:00 or Sunday morning 7:00-8:00.  All weigh ins will be in the Middle Sisters Building at the fairgrounds.  USA Wrestling cards are required and fee is $20.All other Kids Divisions (Bantam, Intermediate, Novice and Schoolboy/girl must have wrestled at a qualifying tournament.   See “Schedule” on this website for all information needed for the tournament.

Correction Regarding Kids Weigh-in

School boy/girl and Cadet Division wrestlers  will weigh-in on Saturday night, 6:00-7:00 PM, not during the day on Saturday.   There will also be a 7:00-8:00 AM weigh-in on Sunday for Schoolboy/girl and Cadets only.  These two divisions will only wrestle on Sunday.  Novice will start on Saturday afternoon (weigh-in at 12:00-1:30 PM on Saturday) and finish on Sunday.  All Bantam and Intermediates must weigh-in from 12:00 to 1:30 on Saturday.  Bantam and Intermediates will wrestle on Saturday only.

Weight Allowance for 2012

This post applies to the High School Division only.  Coaches–please note that the OSAA growth allowance will  occur on the weekend  prior to the Oregon Wrestling Classic.  Consequently, each weight class will  be two pounds above plus the two pound weight allowance for the Classic.  There will be a two pound weight allowance on Friday for the 2012 Oregon Wrestling Classic.   On Saturday, the same two pounds will be given.  A note to coaches:       Each wrestler will be listed at his/her exact weight.  He/She can wrestle at that weight class plus one weight class above.  (eg. Wrester weighs in at 141.8 lbs.  He can wrestle in the new 138 lb. and the new 145 lb. weight classes.   If on Saturday the same wrestler  weighs in at  142.5, then that wrestler can only wrestle at the 147 lb class.  If the same wrestler weighs in on Saturday at 149.5 lb. then that wrestler is eliminated from competition for the remainder of the tournament.  Coaches–please note that the OSAA growth allowance will  occur on the weekend  prior to the Oregon Wrestling Classic.  Consequently, each weight class will  be two pounds above plus the two pound allowance for the Classic.

5 Year Schedule for the Oregon Wrestling Classic

The committee of the Oregon Wrestling Classic has negotiated the following dates for the Classic over the next five years.  The tournament will correspond to the week end before Martin Luther King Day on that Monday in January.  Please  note the following future dates for the Oregon Wrestling Classic.

  • 2012—-January 13th, 14th, and 15th
  • 2013—-January 18th, 19th, and 20th
  • 2014—-January 17th, 18th and 19th
  • 2015—-January 16th, 17th, and 18th
  • 2016—-January 15th, 16th, and 17th
