Oregon Wrestling Classic
PO BOX 81, Tillamook, OR 97141 Welcome to the 2010, new Oregon Wrestling Classic, one of the nation’s largest wrestling events determined by the number of participants. Last year there were over 3,000 individuals involved in the action of the tournament. The tournament is a greatly entertaining three day event with the largest selection of high schools competing in five seperate tournaments of dual meet competition. The Kids division consists of the place finishers (1st-3rd) from several qualifying tournaments. These five to sixteen year olds are competing to win the championship of their division and weight class. The College Division will not be part of the 2010 Classic, as a result of the loss of two key colleges in Oregon, and other colleges choosing to participate in other tournaments. The Women’s division is an open tournament with close to 100 women competing. The Oregon Wrestling Classic was established in 1982, when an Oregon City High School Dual Meet Tournament was combined with the Portland State College Tournament and a Kids Division was included. Since then, approximately 25 years later, the all- volunteer “Committee” has worked hard to continue the Oregon Wrestling Classic tradition of promoting amateur wrestling. The 2010 Oregon Wrestling Classic will include 76 high school teams. High school Division wrestling will begin Friday, January 8, 2010, and conclude on Saturday with the finals at 5:00 PM. Every school will have at least four matches. It is important to note the purposes and goals of the Oregon Wrestling Classic.
